Chicago Art Deco Society is pleased to be facilitating a virtual presentation and discussion on a new Art Deco  public art display in the city. Earlier this summer, muralist Kate Lynn Lewis designed and produced The Radiance of Being for Chicago’s downtown Riverwalk. The piece is an incredible homage to Chicago’s Art Deco architecture, commemorating one hundred years of lavish design work from the period of the Roaring ‘20s. The mural incorporates contemporary updates of famous motif work from the trim, stucco reliefs, and plaques embedded into buildings of significance throughout Chicago.

This program will be hosted by artist Kate Lynn Lewis and hosted by CADS. She will explore her own design process, and the story behind the dozens of various historical influences that went into producing the ambitious and awe-inspiring statement piece that now resides in the heart of our city for hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors to view and learn from. Artist Kate Lynn Lewis is a Chicago based muralist and illustrator. While much of her mural work highlights geometry and intelligent design, her most  recent series have focused on Art Deco and the use of figurative forms to create conceptual pieces which encourage viewer engagement.

Space for this program is limited and registration is required. While this program is free to the public, CADS is collecting donations, 100% of which will go to supporting Kate Lynn Lewis and collaborating artists within the Chicago arts community. Please consider giving $10 to support local artists and the continued love of Art Deco within our city.
