Come meet our committees and see what we're planning!!!

CADS has grown exponentially this past year. With the concerted effort on our core programs and social gatherings we've also strengthened our preservation focus, made serious headway on the survey/book project, and further expanded our social media presence.

With this growth comes a need for volunteers. If you are a new member, a long time patron, or even a curious visitor, we would welcome your expertise to help power our continued initiatives.

Consider introducing yourself to one of our committee chairs listed below and see how you can get involved!

Preservation Committee: Amy Keller, Chairperson
The Preservation Committee engages in preservation efforts, including petitioning the Commission on Chicago Landmarks to recognize architecturally and historically significant places as “landmarks”. The committee also participates in National Historic Preservation Act meetings to analyze impacts to historic resources, educates and provides resources to owners of Art Deco structures, organizes community letter writing campaigns, and recognizes individuals and organizations for their preservation and rehabilitation efforts.

Finance Committee: Mary Miller, Chairperson
The Finance Committee works to insure accuracy of financial information and prepare necessary reports for board review. Additionally, they evaluate systems for internal control and management, review financial information for necessary income/expense adjustments and forecast future budgets including new/existing projects and special events.

Programming- Education Committee: Joe Loundy, Chairperson
This committee works to develop and plan ideas for future events that support CADS’mission of education and preservation. Working collaboratively with other organizations and groups, they scout speakers, venues, and partnerships, working in coordination with the social committee.

Programming- Social Committee: Kevin Palmer, Chairperson
This committee works with the education committee to plan and carry out social events, happy hours, and membership mixers. They scout potential venues, coordinate communication and registration, and staff the events.

Membership Committee: Susanne Petersson, Chairperson
This committee works to develop new membership while supporting our current members. They organize and track membership data, evaluate and help to determine dues, coordinate volunteers, and work collaboratively with other committees to support membership interests through CADS events.

Social Media Committee: Mark Allen Garzon, Chairperson
This committee works to generate interest and membership through the CADS Facebook, Meetup, and Twitter pages. Working collaboratively with other committees, they help facilitate timely communications of CADS related issues and events by posting about a wide variety of Art Deco topics daily. They also encourage interaction to promote education and familiarity with the organization and membership interests.

Additionally, we would love volunteers for Graphics, Accounting, Grant Writing, Fund Raising, and Event Planning.
